چکیده

We show that the non-superstability (non-stability) of a theory T is equivalent to the condition that for every elementary chain of length u; (un) of saturated models Mi of T with ||M,+i|| > ||M;|| for all s < UJ(U/I), the union of the chain is not saturated. The cardinality of T is immaterial.

Equivalent Definitions of superstability in Tame Abstract Elementary Classes

ELEMENTARY CLASSES RAMI GROSSBERG AND SEBASTIEN VASEY Abstract. In the context of abstract elementary classes (AECs) with a monster model, several possible definitions of superstability have appeared in the literature. Among them are no long splitting chains, uniqueness of limit models, and solvability. Under the assumption that the class is tame and stable, we show that (asymptotically) no lon...

Chains of saturated models in AECs

We study when a union of saturated models is saturated in the framework of tame abstract elementary classes (AECs) with amalgamation. We prove: Theorem 0.1. If K is a tame AEC with amalgamation satisfying a natural definition of superstability (which follows from categoricity in a high-enough cardinal), then for all high-enough λ: (1) The union of an increasing chain of λ-saturated models is λ-...

Superstability of $m$-additive maps on complete non--Archimedean spaces

The stability problem of the functional equation was conjectured by Ulam and was solved by Hyers in the case of additive mapping. Baker et al. investigated the superstability of the functional equation from a vector space to real numbers. In this paper, we exhibit the superstability of $m$-additive maps on complete non--Archimedean spaces via a fixed point method raised by Diaz and Margolis.

On the Superstability and Stability of the Pexiderized Exponential Equation

The main purpose of this paper is to establish some new results onthe superstability and stability via a fixed point approach forthe Pexiderized exponential equation, i.e.,$$|f(x+y)-g(x)h(y)|leq psi(x,y),$$where $f$, $g$ and $h$ are three functions from an arbitrarycommutative semigroup $S$ to an arbitrary unitary complex Banachalgebra and also $psi: S^{2}rightarrow [0,infty)$ is afunction. Fur...

Toward a Stability Theory of Tame Abstract Elementary Classes

We initiate a systematic investigation of the abstract elementary classes that have amalgamation, satisfy tameness (a locality property for orbital types), and are stable (in terms of the number of orbital types) in some cardinal. Assuming the singular cardinal hypothesis (SCH), we prove a full characterization of the (high-enough) stability cardinals, and connect the stability spectrum with th...
